Eastern Illinois University Vice President of Student Affairs Matt Bierman presents a talented student award fee increase proposal to the Student Senate Wednesday night, March 27, 2024, at the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union in the Arcola Tuscola Room on Eastern's campus. The proposal requests an increase of $0.86 from $21.82 to $22.68. This fee is charged for every credit hour, not exceeding a maximum amount of twelve credit hours. The suggested cost per semester would increase by $10.32, totaling to $272.16. Bierman said in his presentation more than half of the collected fees go toward student athletes without athletic scholarships. The senate failed the resolution with the majority saying it is not equitable for the student body to pay for a large percentage of monies going into athletics.

Sheldon Turner Jr. Sophomore accounting major , gave their Student Executive Vice President speech to the Student Senate, Turner is one out of two candidates, they have never been apart of the senate before.
