The first Panther of the Week is going to Katie Kopshever from the volleyball team.
The sophomore outside hitter from Newburgh, Indiana, totaled nine service aces across both matches last week against UT Martin.
In Thursday’s series opener, Kopshever had a career-high five aces and led the team with 13 kills. On Friday, she had four more service aces and was second on the team with 16 kills.
Eastern extended its win streak to eight games and is a game behind Morehead State for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The second Panther of the Week is going to Brenda Torres from the women’s cross-country team.
The junior from Prospect Heights placed second at the OVC Cross-Country Championships Friday.
Torres ran a 21:04.3 six kilometer race and was within a second of the school record.
The Panthers as a team finished fourth.
