The first Panther of the Week is going to Terry McMorris from the men’s basketball team.

The sophomore forward from Oklahoma City recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in his collegiate career in Eastern’s two games at the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Championships.

In the Panthers’ first round 77-71 overtime victory over Southern Illinois Edwardsville, McMorris joined a total of four Eastern players in double figures with 15 points and grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds.

The following day in the tournament quarterfinals against UT Martin, McMorris once again dropped 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Eastern’s season came to an end after Thursday’s loss. The Panthers finished with an overall record of 13-20.

The second Panther of the Week is going to Kyree Alexander from the baseball team.

The senior infielder from Chicago was a major contributor to Eastern’s offense in its series victory over Bellarmine.

Alexander totaled four hits and drove in five runs in the three game series.

In the series opener, which was moved to Mt. Dew Park in Marion, Alexander went 3-for-5 with two home runs and drove in four of the Panthers’ 11 runs.

Alexander’s three-run home run in the fourth inning widened Eastern’s lead to five before a solo home run in the sixth inning gave Eastern its 11th and final run of the game.

The Panthers currently sit at 6-7 and are scheduled to play their home opener against Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday.
