The first Panther of the Week is going to Markus Blackwell from the men’s basketball team.
The freshman guard from Detroit scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Panthers in a 77-59 loss to SEMO on Saturday.
Blackwell tied his career-high total 0f 25 minutes during the game. He made five of his seven shots from the field. All but one of those shots were three-pointers, and Blackwell converted on four of his six attempts.
The Panthers start a three-game road trip on Thursday as they go down to Tennessee for two games against Tennessee State and Tennessee tech before finishing the trip up with a game at Western Illinois the following Tuesday.
The second Panther of the Week is going to Alexander Sadowski from the men’s swim team.
The freshman from McHenry, Illinois won the 100-yard breaststroke in Eastern’s meet against Southern Illinois on Friday with a time of 50.14 seconds.
Sadowski’s time ranks fourth all-time in EIU men’s swimming history.
His time for that event was 0.58 seconds slower than what he swam in the previous meet against UIC.
The men’s swim team wrapped up its final home meet of the season on Friday with a 202-58 loss to SIU.
