The male Panther of the Week is going to Zion Fruster from the men’s basketball team.
The senior guard from Douglasville, Georgia, scored a season-high 28 points in Eastern’s 70-68 loss to Southern Indiana on Saturday.
Fruster led all scorers in that game and also led the Panthers with 18 points in Eastern’s 73-70 loss to Morehead State on Thursday.
Fruster was recognized as a notable performer by the Ohio Valley Conference. He was nominated for the conference’s player of the week award.
The female Panther of the Week is going to Genevieve Biberdorf from the women’s swim team.
The senior from Woodway, Texas, set a new 100 Yard Breaststroke EIU record with a time of 1:04.22 at the Summit League Championships last week.
Biberdorf was one of six new program records set during the conference championships last week, which were held in Iowa City, Iowa.
Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in last place in the conference championships. Denver won the conference championships on both the men’s and women’s side.
