The female Panther of the Week is going to fifth year forward Zenaya Barnes from the women’s soccer team.

Four minutes into the first half, freshman forward Abby Reinl found Barnes and passed her the ball.

Barnes kicked the ball diagonally into the goal with her right foot to give the Panthers an early 1-0 lead.

Barnes scored the Panthers’ only goal against Chicago State on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field.

Barnes played for 57 minutes and recorded two shots and two shots on goal.

Eastern celebrated their seniors at the beginning of the game.

Eastern lost against Chicago State 2-1.

The male Panther of the Week is going to junior wide receiver DeAirious Smith from the football team.

Smith recorded a touchdown for the Panthers against the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday afternoon at the Doyt L. Perry Stadium.

Smith caught a 31-yard pass on a fourth down play from redshirt junior quarterback Pierce Holley.

Smith’s touchdown helped the Panthers gain six points before the first half concluded.

This was Smith’s fifth touchdown throughout his time with the Panthers.

Smith was Holley’s favorite target in the game as Smith finished with nine targets.

Smith recorded four catches for 83 yards.

The Panthers lost against the Falcons 38-15.
