The first Panther of the Week is going to Tiny Lewis from the women’s basketball team.
The senior guard from St. Cloud, Minnesota, averaged 18 points in the Panthers’ two games last week against Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech.
Lewis led the Panthers with 19 points against Tennessee State which helped Eastern to a 65-60 win over the Lady Tigers to snap a six-game losing streak.
The Panthers have been shorthanded due to injuries and only had eight players available in Thursday’s win.
Lewis also led the team with 17 points on Saturday in Eastern’s 75-70 overtime loss to Tennessee Tech.
The second Panther of the Week is going to Analena Peterson from the women’s track and field team.
The freshman from Waukesha, Wisconsin, recorded a personal record and tied the EIU record in the women’s 200m dash at the Missouri Invitational on Friday.
Peterson ran the race in 24.20 seconds. That mark was good for a second-place finish as well as a tie of the EIU record in that event set by Akiya Kollore in 2023.
Both track and field teams are back in action on Friday at the Depaul Alumni Classic.
