The female Panther of the Week is going to Rylan Gick from the softball team.
The sophomore from West Lafayette, Indiana pitched a complete game in Eastern’s series finale against Lindenwood Saturday, and pitched nine of the 14 innings in game one of the series on Friday.
On Saturday, Gick scattered six hits across seven innings of work and allowed one run while striking out seven hitters to improve to 4-3 on the season. On Friday, she allowed 10 hits and seven runs. Gick left the game after three innings, but re-entered in relief of Bryanna French for the start of the eighth inning.
Gick left the game with a no-decision.
The Panthers improved to 6-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play with a series sweep of Lindenwood in Eastern’s first three home games of the season.

The male Panther of the Week is going to Mike O’Conor from the baseball team.
The senior infielder from Des Plaines hit for the cycle in Eastern’s 25-14 win over Memphis on Sunday.
O’Conor totaled four hits in his seven at bats on Sunday and drove in three runs while scoring three runs as well.
In the second inning, O’Conor hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to left field that traveled 391 feet, to give Eastern a lead it would never relinquish.
Eastern won the series from Memphis by winning the final two games, and the Panthers have a two game midweek series against Arkansas-Pine Bluff before opening up OVC play on Friday against Lindenwood.
