The male Panther of the Week is going to Kooper Jacobi from the men’s basketball team.

The graduate forward from Sellersburg, Indiana, recorded a 30-point, 13 rebound double-double in Thursday’s 71-67 victory over Lindenwood.

The win helped Eastern move back into a tie with two other teams for the final two spots in the Ohio Valley Conference going into the final regular season game.

Though the Panthers lost their final game, that win allowed Eastern to get help elsewhere, as Tennessee Tech’s loss clinched a spot in the OVC tournament for Eastern.

The female Panther of the Week is going to Abby Venhaus from the women’s track and field team.

The junior from Columbia, Illinois, was named the Ohio Valley Conference female athlete of the championship at the OVC Track and Field Championships last week.

Venhaus won a gold medal in the long jump with a 5.78m (18-11.50) mark. Venhaus also tied the third fastest 60m time in school history with a time of 7.58 seconds.

In the triple jump finals, Venhaus placed third with an 11.89m (39-0.00) mark.
