Editorial: Another semester of COVID underway

Staff Editorial

When COVID-19 began early last year, it is likely that none of us thought that it would be a part of our lives in at least three semesters.

But it is what it is, and all we can do is make the most of it.

We at The Daily Eastern News are just as tired of COVID-19 as everyone else is. We have been hearing about masks and social distancing for so long that these concepts have become a part of our daily lives.

There is a reason we talk about social distancing and masks so much, and it is because they work.

We know that most people are following these guidelines while on campus, because we are required to do so. But it is equally important to follow these protocols off campus as well.

If we want Spring 2021 to be the last semester affected by COVID-19, we have to do the right things to make that a reality.

Wear your masks properly at all times. Avoid large groups. Get tested whenever you can. Monitor any symptoms. Get vaccinated when the option is made available to you.

COVID-19 has ruined so many things over the last 11 months. It has drastically altered the college experience for millions of students across the country. If we all continue to take this seriously, maybe next semester will be back to normal.
