Editorial: Don’t neglect your mental health this semester

Staff Editorial

A lot of focus this semester is going toward following all of the health and safety protocols around campus. It is important to understand and follow all of these protocols so everyone on campus can remain physically healthy. But do not let your stress over classes and COVID-19 cause you to neglect your mental health.

We at The Daily Eastern News want to remind students to take care of themselves mentally as well as physically, especially this semester. The COVID-19 pandemic and the return of classes can be very stressful times for many people.

You might be worrying about your own physical health, the health of your friends, family and loved ones. You might be worrying about the uncertainty of your classes and the possibility of moving to online classes once again.

Try to take time each day to escape the stress and other things that may be affecting your mental health in a negative way. If you are feeling overwhelmed or depressed at any point, do not be afraid to reach out to people and let them know. A good support system can be very beneficial, especially now when so many people may be worrying about the same things you are worrying about.

It is understandable to be stressed out and overwhelmed at times this semester. This is a very strange situation. But try to keep track of your mental health. At The Daily Eastern News, we want everyone to remain mentally and physically healthy all semester.
