The oldies search for new moneys

It’s not uncommon to look at a concert schedule and notice that it includes at least one or two old bands that have reunited or recruited new members and kept the bands’ former names.

For example, bands like Styx, Cream, The Smoking Popes, The Sisters of Mercy and The New Cars are touring again.

While they may be loved by millions, they are all pretty well past their prime.

Why are so many bands getting back together?

Is it all about money, fame and fortune or going out as big as you can?

Or is it really about the music?

These bands broke up for a reason, and I’m sure they weren’t thinking about doing 10 reunion tours years into the future.

To me, it seems a little forced.

These musicians have been doing nothing for years but collect their royalty checks, and now, all of a sudden, they are regrouping.

It’s all money and media-driven actions.

If these musicians were doing it for the music, Roger Waters wouldn’t be charging the general public $50 for a lawn seat.
