Cut me some slack

1. David Letterman – “The Late Show” is my favorite late-night talk show, undoubtedly because of this gap-toothed goofball. I love the regulars on the show like the Top Ten List and the CBS Mailbag, but even the not-so-regulars like “Will It Float?” are hilarious.

My personal favorite is the “Presidential Joke that’s not really a Joke” of the night. The segment features George W. Bush at various press conferences attempting to make jokes that are horribly bad. The newest segment, “Meet Your Governor,” shows clips from the ’70s of California governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger in some risque situations, many involving women and illegal drugs.

I love Letterman’s ability to make fun of himself in different situations, most recently about the birth of his first child. He joked that when he held his baby, Harry, for the first time, he looked up at him and said, “who’s the old guy?” I think the reason Letterman’s been on television for so long is that sense of sarcasm he possesses.

2. Mo Rocca – Although he got his start on “The Daily Show” in 1996, I didn’t discover this comic genius until I saw his commentaries on “I Love the ’80s” and “I Love the ’70s” on VH1.His comments on the memorable things in the ’80s are hilarious to say the least. He comments on everything from lame ’80s movies to the stupid toys from the decade that everyone thought were the coolest.

3.Kenny Blankenship and Vic Romano- These two are the co-hosts of the insanely funny “Most Extreme Elimination Challenge” on Spike TV.The Asian reality sports show finds the contestants competing in ridiculous physical games. The dialogue is dubbed over in English, but it’s definitely not the translation of what the contestants are actually saying.Blakenship and Romano provide the hilarious – and often times dirty – commentary during the games. My personal favorites are when they nicknamed a position a contestant was in the “prison move” and when they mentioned something about how a woman mistook her “outbox” for her “inbox.”As the MXC website says, Blankenship and Romano put the “FU” back in fun.

4.Eric Foreman – “That ’70s Show” has a great mix of characters: the dumb guy, the badass, the foreign guy, the brat and more. Without these characters, the show wouldn’t be nearly the same, but my favorite is just normal guy Eric. His sense of humor is so dry and sarcastic, and the scenes when he interacts with his dad Red are incredibly funny. In last Tuesday night’s episode, Red blamed Eric for his baldness, and Eric quickly responded “Yeah, well you made me skinny!” It’s that quick timing that makes Eric my favorite character.

5. Biff Henderson – Henderson is the stage manager for David Letterman, but he often times appears in front of the camera to host certain segments for the show.He made a trip to the World Series one year and found it necessary to point out Derek Jeter’s ass numerous times. He has his own segment where he travels to small towns across the country and talks to the residents. It doesn’t sound too exciting, but he manages to find thecraziest small town residents possible.Somehow he also got a position on a minor league baseball team for a game.Just imagine a man in his fifties or sixties playing professional baseball, and you’ll understand why it was so entertaining.
