Wrestlers finally healthy

Things are looking up for the Eastern wrestling team, which will be competing with a full roster for the first time in awhile when it locks up with Eastern Michigan and Binghamton University from New York at 11 a.m. Saturday at Eastern Michigan.

The Panthers have had some problems with injuries in the past few weeks, however, this week coach Ralph McCausland has the entire roster healthy ready to wrestle.

Andy Coyle will be returning at 149 pounds to compete after being off the mats for a number of weeks because of an ankle injury. The void that has plagued the team at 125 pounds will now also be filled again by Brando Murphy.

“The roster will be the same,” head coach Ralph McCausland said. “Murphy will be at 125 though and Andy Coyle is back in the lineup so we won’t have those spots open.”

The Panthers will be competing twice on Saturday in the triangular meet between the three teams.

Competitions against Eastern Michigan have always been pretty close, however, the knowledge the Panthers have about the Binghamton team is very limited so the wrestlers will be wrestling blind against the team out of New York.

“Eastern Michigan has been wrestling well,” McCausland said. “We have had pretty tight matches every time, but we don’t know much on the other team. We haven’t seen them in person or in the rankings.”
