No more Superbowl excitement

Good morning, sports fans. So here it is, the big game – the game for all the marbles and the problem is … there isn’t a whole lot of interest.

Sure, fans of the Rams and the Patriot care; that’s a given. But other than that, it hasn’t gotten much attention at all.

I don’t know, maybe I’m bitter about the Bears losing in the second round of the playoffs.

Or maybe I am tired of hearing how good the Rams are, but I can’t argue with what they have done. But there are a few reasons why this year’s big game won’t be as exciting.

Although the Rams are in their second Super Bowl in three years, they aren’t trying to continue a dynasty like teams have done in past years, and neither one of these teams are from a big city, which is probably the main reason why this one doesn’t seem to hold the same weight.

One other major reason that I think Super Bowl XXXVI hasn’t gotten the attention that it deserves as the championship game for the National Football League is that the Rams, in most people’s mind, will make this the Patriots’ third blowout loss in a Super Bowl.

Thinking about the spread at the time I am writing this, it will be 14 and a half points, with the Patriots being the underdog. Now, I am not promoting gambling in any way, but if I was a betting man, and I have been known to be, I would take the Patriots and run with 14 and a half points.

That’s two touchdowns and some change that the Pats are already up in Vegas, baby! No, I don’t think the Patriots will win the game, but I do think that they can keep it within two touchdowns and maybe, just maybe, pull off the upset, but I doubt it.

By the way, back in 1985, did you ever think that the Patriots would have been back to the Super Bowl twice before the Bears made it back once?
