Hello Dali to invade 7th Street Underground

The improv comedy troupe Hello Dali will be dishing out a dose of their offbeat antics this evening.

The comedy sketches will kick off at 10:30 p.m. and last until midnight in the 7th Street Underground (located in the basement of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union), said Hello Dali participant Chris Hopkins, a senior English major.

Their act can be compared to the likes of the popular television show “Whose Line Is it Anyway?” Hopkins said.

Jennie Pepsnik, a senior English and theatre major, said the entertaining sketches provided to audience members during their shows consist of seven to 10 impromptu games which follow certain rules.

Despite the number of games they have done, Pepsnik said a routine is rarely if ever repeated.

“It’s never the same show, “ she said. “We are always getting different suggestions (for new sketches).”

Hopkins said members of Hello Dali prefer performing sketches from offbeat ideas, which help add unique types of variety to a show.

The comical group is comprised of 10 members this year, which helps them provide as much variety as possible to their audiences.

Hopkins and Pepsnik were enthusiastic about their group’s third show of this academic year despite the fact they are accustomed to playing Wednesday nights instead of Friday. Nonetheless, the group expects a good turnout of students.

“The laughter (the show provides) is a really good way to connect to people,” Pepsnik said. “It’s really a good start out to the evening.”

“(Hello Dali) provides maximum hilarity to its audiences,” Hopkins said.

Hopkins said the improv group has traveled as far as Navy Pier in Chicago to display their comical talents.

“We had a sizable crowd there,” Hopkins said. “They seemed to really enjoy (the show).”

Both Hopkins and Pepsnik encourage students to venture out and support Hello Dali, saying the presence of different students in crowds is an uplifting sight for the group.

“It’s always good to see new faces in the audience,” Hopkins said. “We like when we get a lot of people out to see us.”

The show is free to all students with a Panther ID.
