Faculty get petitions to serve on Eastern committees

For those faculty members who wish to hold a position on one of Eastern’s committees, election petitions will be mailed to every faculty member later this week.

“I am hoping for a good turnout this year,” said Faculty Senate Vice Chair Bud Fischer. “We need a good turnout because it is good to have a diversity of opinions on these committees.”

The petitions, which must be signed by 10 faculty members, are due back in Fischer’s office by March 30, and elections are scheduled to be held April 11 and 12.

Elections will be held for 29 positions in 10 different campus committees.

* Five positions on the Faculty Senate

* Three positions on the Council of Academic Affairs

* Two positions on the Council of Graduate Studies

* Three positions on the Council on Teacher Education

* Four positions on the Council on University Planning and Budget

* One position on the Admissions Appeal Review Committee

* One position on the Enrollment Management Advisory Committee

* Three positions on the Academic Program Elimination Review Committee

* Four positions on the Sanctions and Termination Hearing Committee

* Three positions on the University Personal Committee

Faculty running for positions on several of these committees are asked to respond to questions regarding the issues of the committee.

For example, a candidate running for a seat on the Council on Academic Affairs is requested to answer the question, “What would you like to accomplish as a CAA member?”

The responses to the questions are due back with the signed petitions and will be released with the Faculty Senate minutes after March 30.
