The first Panther of the week is going to Brenda Torres from the women’s cross-country team.
The junior from Prospect Heights led the team to a first-place finish at the Walt Crawford Open on Friday.
Torres won the 6k race in 21 minutes and 33.9 seconds.
Five of the first six runners to finish were Eastern runners, as the team won it with 17 points.

The second Panther of the week is going to Lilli Amettis from the volleyball team.
The senior outside hitter from Forsyth recorded 38 kills, seven blocks and 41 digs in 11 sets last week at the Southern Illinois Saluki Bash.
Amettis helped lead Eastern to an undefeated tournament and was given all-tournament honors as well as named tournament MVP.
Eastern won both of its games on Friday in straight sets against Kansas City University and New Mexico State.
On Saturday, the Panthers won the final two sets in a 5-set comeback victory over Southern Illinois.
Eastern’s next game is set for a 6 p.m. start against Indiana State at the Indiana State Sycamore Classic.
