Eastern’s men’s baseball team practices in the Lantz Indoor Fieldhouse on Thursday evening. The team’s first game will be against the Florida A&M Rattlers on Feb. 16 in Tallahassee at Bragg Memorial Stadium at Florida A&M’s campus.

Junior infielder Danny Infante answered a bunch of questions ranging from his favorite sunflower seed flavor to what he would tell his younger self.

Q: How long have you been playing baseball?

A: “I’ve been playing baseball since I was about 7 years old.”

Q: Who’s your favorite baseball team?

A: “The New York Yankees.”

Q: Besides baseball, what’s your favorite sport?

A: “Basketball.”

Q: How did you feel about traveling halfway from Brooklyn, New York, to play junior college baseball in Kansas?

A: “It’s nothing new. I went to prep[atory] school away from home all of high school, so it’s nothing I wasn’t used to, I was prepared for all the adversity.”

Q: What’s your favorite sunflower seed flavor?

A: “Cracked pepper.”

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals?

A: “Nah, just get ready to play and not be sped up.”

Q: If you had the fate of the universe on the line, with the death beams pointing right at us, and you had to pick a person to hit a home run to save the world, past or present, who are you picking?

A: “Juan Soto.”

Q: What’s your goal for this season?

A: “Bring home as many W’s as possible and bring back that OVC Championship at the end of the season.”

Q: Who on the team is most likely to sign a $100 million contract?

A: “Probably Tyler Conklin.”

Q: What are you most excited for in life?

A: “I’m excited to see what the future holds for me. I know I’ve gotta work for things I want, so I’m excited for that, and whatever I’m doing, just have fun with it.”

Q: Do you have a go-to post game meal?

A: “I do not. I eat whatever we are given or probably Chipotle or what we have here in Mi Casa.”

Q: Who on the team would you feel most comfortable giving the aux to?

A: “Grant Lashure or Luke Melton.”

Q: What advice would you give to Danny Infante six years ago?

A: “To work hard and to overcome any obstacle that’s thrown at you. Just keep working hard, give it everything you’ve got.”
