Drew Coffey, Campus Reporter

On Monday, there will be no classes on campus to celebrate Labor Day and many buildings and campus accessories will be closed; here’s what will be open.

All on-campus dining will be closed for Labor Day except for Thomas Dining Hall.

The Thomas Hall side will serve:

  • Made to Order Pizza
  • Grilled Steak Sandwiches
  • Grilled Chicken Sandwiches
  • Cream of Potato w/Bacon Soup

The Andrews Hall side will serve:

  • Italian Beef
  • Beef and Cheddar
  • Chicago Style Hot Dogs
  • Crinkle Cut Fries

Prepackaged allergen friendly meals will be available to students upon request.

Places in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union including the University Bookstore, the Panther Pantry, the US Bank, and the Java Coffeeshop will be closed for the holiday.

The EIU Bowling Lanes will also be closed for the day.

However, the University Food Court located in the Union Building will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Booth Library will be closed until Tuesday.

Things to do on campus include playing on the outside basketball and tennis courts as well as a disc golf course located on the southside of campus behind the university pond.

An activity off campus would be to hike or fish at Lake Charleston with a challenging 3.5-mile trail loop around the lake.
