Story time, activities provided by library

Staff Report

The Charleston Carnegie Public Library will be providing free craft activities for kids and teens for a second week, June 14 through 20.

The fabric-stenciling activity which was originally scheduled for June 7 had to be delayed due to weather concerns. It has been moved to 10:30 a.m. to noon on June 16 at the KidSpace Patio.

Miss Brenda’s Preschool Story Time, a weekly event for kids, will begin on June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the Kiwanis Park Amphitheater.

The event will include songs, stories, and action rhymes, and is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. each Monday through July 19, unless weather prevents use of the outdoor setting.

Cancelations will be announced on the Charleston Carnegie Public Library Facebook page. The library requests that attendees maintain social distancing.

In addition, the library will be providing a take-home craft of “shrink plastic.”

Kids and teens ages 3 through 18 can stop by the KidSpace desk from June 14 to 20 to pick up the plastic.

At home, they’ll need colored pencils or markers, scissors, a cookie sheet, an oven, and oven mitts to follow the instructions.

The library recommends that children 12 and under be supervised during the activity, especially while using the oven.
