EDITORIAL: Enjoy this weekend with family at Eastern

Staff Report

This weekend has a lot of events to offer students, for example the Eastern football game Saturday at 4 p.m.

But going to all those events, including whatever sports are also playing over the weekend, is not the same as it is when you go with your family.

That is right; if you did not know, this weekend is Family Weekend at Eastern, so families will be plentiful around campus and Charleston.

Seeing all the families reunite with their children after a month and a half away from each other is a touching sight, and the thought of so many people walking around Eastern is warming.

That is why we at The Daily Eastern News want to encourage everyone to enjoy the upcoming weekend full of planned events and family fun.

As we all know, there are two types of prospective high school students.

There are those high school seniors who cannot wait to get out of their family’s house and be by themselves on a new journey, and there are those who want to go to college but want to be near their family still.

Neither one is good or bad, it just comes down to personal preference, but this weekend could be for both sides.

For the students who want to be near their families still, this weekend will provide ample time and opportunities to see your family and do things with them.

We are adults now, but getting to see our families even for a day or two is always nice and worth the wait.

This would be the perfect time to catch up on all the happenings in your hometown, at your old school or with your family.

With the semester nearing the halfway mark, stress already started building and midterms are about to hit, so the family company could be a good time to take a needed break.

For those students who were and still are looking to maintain more independence from their family, this weekend could still provide those things.

Any time to see your family again is good, and no matter how much you say you are doing just fine without them, we all know deep down we always want to be able to turn to our family for support.

After all, these are the people who have been there for you since the beginning and want to always be there for you.

So, relish this weekend and any amount of time you can visit with your family, and show them a good time.

If your immediate family cannot make it, hang around with your roommate’s or friend’s family, or find your Eastern family to be with.

No matter who it is, find time to be with one of your families this weekend.
