‘Take Back the Night’ moved to Friday in front of Doudna Steps

Staff Report

Take Back the Night has been rescheduled to Friday due to rain on Thursday and has been renamed Take Back the Day.

The Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service will host Take Back the Day alongside its tabling event called SACIS on the Steps.

Both events will be at the Doudna Steps from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the Take Back the Day rally and march starting at 12:30, according to a post from the SACIS Instagram page.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to win prizes and play some games.

According to the Take Back the Night Foundation, the event is meant to “create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives.”

Take Back the Night is a part of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and is sponsored by Student Government, Sexual Violence Prevention Team, EIU Division of Student Affairs, EIU Office of Civil Rights and Diversity/Title X, SACIS and HOPE.
