A march will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday for sexual assault survivors to “take back the night.”

According to the Take Back the Night Foundation, the event is meant to “create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives.”

The goal of the foundation is to end all forms of sexual violence.

The march is a part of National Sexual Assault Awareness Month and is sponsored by Student Government, Sexual Violence Prevention Team, EIU Division of Student Affairs, EIU Office of Civil Rights and Diversity/Title X, the Sexual Assault Counseling and Information Service and HOPE.

The march is planned to last and hour and end at 7:30 p.m.
