Women’s soccer set for final home matches

The women’s soccer team will host two teams this weekend to close out the home portion of their schedule.

The Panthers (4-9) have seen two wins in their last six games. Each of those games has been decided by one goal.

In their last match against Morehead State, the Panthers lost off an own goal that found the net early in the second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Sara Teteak recorded six saves on the day after seeing the Eagles take 12 shots. Junior defender Carrie Caplin had two shots with one on goal, for the Panthers and freshman defender Henar Urteaga had one shot.

Other shots on goal came from sophomore midfielder Kate Olsen, sophomore midfielder Elisabeth Held, and freshman midfielder Angela Corcoran.

The Panthers are 3-4 this year at home. Defeating Marian University 1-0, Northern Iowa 3-0, and their only home win in Ohio Valley Conference play against Tennessee-Martin.

Murray State (5-4-2) is undefeated in OVC play, finding the win column four times and their lone tie in their last five matches. The Racers came away with a victory over Eastern Kentucky 3-0, outshooting the Colonels (8-4) 13-5. Junior forward Harriet Withers scored in the 28th minute and sophomore forward Cori Cain and senior midfielder Ali Critcher each added goals.

The (8-4-2) Austin Peay Governors are also undefeated in OVC play. They have come away with wins against Morehead State, Tennessee Martin, and Eastern Kentucky.

They have two ties against Southeast Missouri and in their last match, Tennesse Tech. Leading the way for the Governors with 10 goals is Kristin Robertson.

The Panthers will take on Murray State on Friday at Lakeside Field at 3 p.m. and then take on Austin Peay Sunday at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
