Breslfoard breaks record at regional

Sophomore Emily Brelsfoard’s time of 21:30.5 broke the Eastern women’s cross country record for the 6K on Friday in Peoria at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

The women’s team as a whole finished in 27th place. Brelsfoard finished in 76th place. The previous record, set in 2012 at the Bradley Classic, was 21:35 by Olivia Klaus.

Other women’s competitors included Ivy Handley with a time of 22:01.4, freshman Maria Baldwin with a time of 22:09.3, with a time of 27:56.4, Rachel Garippo with a time of 22:21.4, Victoria Quarton with a time of 22:25.6 and Kristen Rohrer with a time of 22:40.9.

On the men’s side, sophomore Riley McInerney was the leading Eastern runner with a time of 31:26.1. McInerney finished in 84th place.

Other competitors on the men’s team included Derrick Johnson with a time of 31:36.7, Joe Calio with a time of 31:47.1, Paxson Menard with a time of 31:50.6, Ryan Ballard with a time of 32:40.4, Mark Pedziwiatr with a time of 32:58.2 and Lucas Nudelman with a time of 32:58.4.

Oklahoma State finished first overall in the men’s race, while Iowa State won the women’s race.
