CAA approves theater course

Debby Hernandez, Administration Editor

The Council on Academic Affairs approved a new Dramaturgy Theater Course, which will be effective Spring 2015 Thursday.

The new course will focus on dramaturgy history, theory, and practice.

The dramaturgy course, which is dramatic composition, will allow students to engage in projects such as creation of program notes, lobby displays, and talkbacks, according to the course proposal.

Prerequisites for the course include English 1001 and 1002 to ensure writing proficiency prior to the course.

Introduction to Theater or Script Analysis will also be required.

While the course is focused on theater majors and minors, students majoring in related fields can also take the course.

Those who have acquaintance with the theoretical production process and wish to apply their skills in the subject can also take the new course.
