With Lakeside Field temporarily underwater following Thursday’s downpour, Friday’s women’s soccer match between Eastern and Belmont was moved to the team’s practice field, located just behind Coaches Stadium.

In the windy and rainy conditions, Belmont left with a 3-1 victory, putting Eastern at 0-3 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

Freshman Tara Austin scored two goals for Belmont, with her first coming in the 24th minute.

Eastern responded in the 43rd minute, when senior Meagan Radloff scored from 40 yards out on a set piece for an unassisted goal.

An own goal by the Panthers at the start of the second half put them down 2-1. Austin added her second goal of the match in the 56th minute.

Belmont out-shot the Panthers 17-12, with Hannah Miller leading the way with three. Red-shirt junior Chris Reed had two shots on goal in the match.

Radloff was issued a yellow card in the second half following an elbow to Belmont’s Belicia Mendiola.

Belmont’s Lindsey Espe got the win in goal, making five saves. Junior Emily Hinton took the loss for Eastern, making seven saves.

Eastern’s match against Austin Peay, set for 1 p.m. Sunday, is still set to take place at Lakeside Field, but a decision will be made Saturday regarding the field’s playability.
