Two Eastern students stabbed Sunday

Two Eastern students were reportedly stabbed during a fight that broke out at a party at 2:37 a.m. on Sunday the 1000 block of 4th St.

The party was reported to have more than 100 people in attendance when a large fight broke out resulting in the stabbing. One of the students stabbed was an Eastern football player, said Rich Moser, associate athletic director said.

“There was an incident over the weekend and two students were stabbed in an altercation,” Moser said. “One of them was a football player, and they have both since been released from the hospital.”

Moser said the names are not being released at this time. Vicki Woodard, director of media relations, said Eastern is not releasing information at this time, and if anyone has questions, call the Charleston Police Department.

They are still investigating. The same night, there were reports of two home invasions.

The first one was at 12:37 a.m. in the 2000 block of 12th St.

It was reported that two black males with handguns in dark clothing and carrying a backpack broke into an apartment.

The victim said he fought the men and they fled the scene.

There was a second invasion at 3:09 a.m. on the 1400 block of 13th St.

It was reported that seven or eight black males, armed with baseball bats, beat the windows out of the victim’s house and entered the property.

Officers arrived five minutes later, but the subject had left the scene.

The suspect of the stabbing is reported to be a college-age black male with dreadlocks.

He is approximately 5’7″ tall and weighs 190 lbs with a muscular build.
