Missing comedian no problem for event

Students were found on every floor of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union for Up All Night Friday evening.

The University Board hosted one of its largest events of the year with around 2,000 students coming to the Fantasy Factory.

A comedian, Theo Von, was advertised to perform, but after a misunderstanding with the comedy chair Matt Caponera, Von was scheduled for Saturday night instead.

“We had issues with the date being misunderstood, but felt there was too much going on tonight so we thought (Saturday) night would be a better fit, anyways,” Caponera said.

The Grand Ballroom housed two activities including a booth to make a music video and past favorite, laser tag.

Maria Gajewski, a senior, took advantage of the opportunity and made a music video with two of her friends.

“It was a blast. I think last year they had the same thing, but this year we actually get a CD,” Gajewski said. “It has been a fun night with free shirts and free food.”

The Bridge Lounge held the most traffic with members of the UB handing out free T-shirts on every hour and snacks.

Brittanie Bishop, a sophomore Resident Assistant at Pemberton Hall, brought some of her residents over to get air brushed tattoos and spin art sunglasses in the University Ballroom.

“I was in line for a while. There are a lot of people trying to get the painted glasses, but they seem pretty neat,” Bishop said.

Otis Seawood, special events coordinat for the UB, said a couple new things were tried this year, including the game show Blizzard of Bucks.

“We had never done a game show before so we thought it would be a good idea to try to bring Blizzard of Bucks in,” Seawood said. “We also brought back some old favorites like Bingo which has become a tradition at Up All Night.”

“Angels and Demons” was also shown on the third floor and racecar simulators were outside.
