Alleged sexual assault posed no continuing campus threat

The alleged sexual assault that was reported to the University Police Department Monday night did not present a continuing threat to the campus.

“A timely warning is distributed when a crime or alleged crime presents a continuing threat to the campus community,” said University Police Chief Adam Due. “Each incident is assessed on an individual basis, including the nature, scope and circumstances.”

Due said the decision to distribute a warning, such as a crime alert e-mail, is made by Dan Nadler, vice president for student affairs, in consultation with others, including Due.

Due would not comment on whether or not security will be increased with the alleged sexual assault still under investigation. He said it is difficult to share additional details about an investigation without revealing the identity of the alleged victim and interfering with the on-going investigation.

Due said on Tuesday the incident was reported to have taken place either Saturday night or Sunday morning, possibly in a residence hall. No charges have been filed in connection to the alleged sexual assault.
