Student Government candidates to debate

Candidates running for Student Government will debate tonight in the Bridge Lounge of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.

Contested positions in the election are student executive vice president, student vice president for business affairs and student vice president

The positions of student body president and student vice president for academic affairs are running unopposed.

Cole Rogers, the only candidate for student body vice president, said he will have the opportunity to speak and field questions from the audience.

Each office candidate will have two minutes for an opening statement.

They will field three general questions, created by the moderators, for one and a half minutes; rebuttal will last for one minute.

Each candidate will also field three questions from the audience for one and a half minutes.

Rebuttal, again, will last one minute.

Candidates will be given two minutes for a closing statement.

The debates were scheduled for the Physical Science Building, but were moved to the union because it is a higher traffic area, said Student Senate Speaker Jeff Lange.

The debate will start at 7 p.m.

The election will be Monday and Tuesday. The results will be announced at Wednesday’s Student Senate meeting.
