Campus food garnishes opinion

Do Eastern students like what they’re eating? Different dining halls offer different options, but for the most part, students seem satisfied with the campus’ meal plan.

“I would say overall the food is pretty good,” student Cassidy Johns said. “It gets a little tiring after a while, but it’s pretty good.”

Johns and her friends, Rebecca Lipscomb and Crystal Goodwin, ate dinner at Taylor Hall Tuesday night, and all agreed that the hall’s variety has been pretty good.

Last night, Taylor offered a choice between the main courses of chicken pot pie and meat ravioli, which seemed to be the favorite on the night. And despite the construction, which has forced Taylor’s dishwasher to go out of commission, it has still been open with the uses of Styrofoam plates and cups and plastic silverware.

“I really like the breakfast at Taylor, but it’s nice that they have the

Union here so you can go to Subway or other little dining areas like that when you want to,” Lipscomb said.

Yet, when asked what the best dining hall on campus is, a number of students pointed to Thomas. While Goodwin likes the breakfast at Taylor, she does have the Thomas bias.

“Thomas has really good food and I think it’s good for vegetarians because they can have grilled cheese and pasta,” she said. “Thomas is better than Taylor by far. They have really good sandwiches, and I would go there every day if I could.”

Thomas Hall diners Nick Petro and Joe Malacina agreed with Goodwin.

“Thomas Hall is the best place I’ve eaten so far. I mean, they got the pop and the pizza so it’s really good,” Petro said. “I don’t really like this chicken all that much, but I do really like the pop. The bar, the pizza especially, and the sandwiches aren’t that bad either.”

“So far, where I’ve eaten, Thomas is the best. I’ve been to Carmen, and Carmen wasn’t that good at all,” Petro said.
