A fifth person from an accident that occurred early Friday morning, which resulted in a car being overturned in the Town Branch Creek, was found and identified by the Charleston Police Department on Monday.

The woman, an Eastern student, was identified by police as Lindsey Branson, 20, of Clariton Hills. She was at Sarah Bush Lincoln Medical Center receiving medical treatment for minor injuries when police located her, Assistant Police Chief Randall Cunningham said.

Branson is being charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.

“We went and identified her at Sarah Bush Lincoln Medical Center on Monday between 2 and 3 p.m.,” Cunningham said.

The Eastern student who was injured in the accident, Charice M. Guman, is still being held at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign and is listed in good condition.

Guman was left in the car and sustained back and head injuries and could not breathe when police arrived on the scene, according to a press release from the police department.

Besides Guman, everyone in the vehicle at the time of the accident has been charged by the police.

The driver, Kyle T. Witter, 22, of Darien, is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death or injury, failing to give aid and aggravated driving while under the influence.

Passenger Peter D. Ward, 22, of Homewood, was charged with obstructing justice. David S. John, 20, of Darien, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor.
