Fee Fi Fo Fum

There’s not much going on these next couple of days, so I thought I’d give y’all some notice of things coming up in the fairly near future. Peace.

Activities for Wednesday

– Grilled cheese and tomato soup: This is 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Carman Hall Dining Center. I promised myself I’d never reveal this weekly event to the public, but judging from the crowd there on Wednesdays, I figured the secret was out. I really like good, complex food for dinner, but for lunch it’s always about the comfort food. I’ve been dipping my grilled white Wonder Bread and Kraft American cheese in Campbell’s tomato soup ever since I can remember, and I’m not about to stop now. Normally I loathe eating meals in Carman, but Wednesdays for lunch is a different story.

Other

– Pirate’s Plunder at Lootery 2003: It’s at 5 p.m. Friday Nov. 21, at Stu’s and the upstairs of E.L. Kracker’s. Aarrr you ready for this annual fundraising event sponsored by the Charleston Area Chamber of Commerce? Tickets for the event are $50 and that fee covers two people. All sorts of prizes and games will be available to those at the event. Over $6,000 in cash and prizes will be given out, with a grand prize of $2,000 for one lucky winner. Proceeds from the event go to such products as Leadership Coles County “Toolbox for Success” business seminars, special projects and the Program of Work. For more information and to purchase your tickets, call 345-7041.

– “Philadelphia, Here I Come”: Event is at 7 p.m. at the Village Theater Nov. 12-14 and 2 p.m. Nov. 15. Tickets are now available for this performance, which is put on by Eastern’s University Theater. Plays are being held at the Village Theater, rather than in Doudna Fine Arts Center because Doudna is being renovated. Expect the extraordinary, sometime. Anyway, I digress. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for faculty, staff and senior citizens. Students get away cheaply, only paying $3.50. Call 581-3110 for reservation and ticket information.
