Celebration will include dancing

This year’s Celebration: A Festival of the Arts will host a Native American program that will give people a look at Native American dance, song and storytelling.

“Echoes of Earth and Sky” will perform at the Festival of the Arts on Saturday. The show will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Dvorak Concert Hall in the Doudna Fine Arts Center.

“Echoes of Earth and Sky” celebrates the traditional and contemporary Native American through dance, regalia and ancient songs and stories, a press release stated.

Rob Greyhill of Round Rock, Ariz., and Jennifer Meness of Pikwakanagan, Ontario bring the cultures of the American Southwest and the Canadian Northeast together to create their performance, the press release stated.

The duo has performed all around the United States and the world.

Meness is a classically trained dancer and a champion in the Native American traditional dances, the Fancy Shawl and the Jingle Dress.

Greyhill has written several songs that can be heard on many compact discs, videos and soundtracks, including Kevin Costner’s “500 Nations,” the press release stated.

The purpose of this event is to give people some insight into the beauty and mystery of Native American traditions.

Tickets for the performance are $5 for general admission and will be available the day of the performance and at the door.
