Projects, pies, positions

The Residence Hall Association held its final meeting of the year Thursday in Andrews Hall and concluded the meeting by pelting executive board members and housing and dining staff with pies.

The pie-throwing was a fund-raiser for the exec board members to be able to attend the conference of the National Association of College Universities and Residence Halls this summer. RHA members or representatives of residence halls could bid for the chance to hit the person of their choice with a pie.

The RHA also addressed its need to fill two executive board positions for vice president and vice president of finance. Nachel Glynn, a sophomore secondary education major, was elected to another term as RHA vice president of finance, and Stina Heldmann, a junior psychology major, will take over as vice president.

Kevin Leverence, a freshman psychology major, said he looks forward to another term as RHA president.

“I felt we got a lot accomplished, it’s been a very productive year,” Leverence said.

Mark Hudson, director of university housing and dining services, addressed temperature concerns in the dorms.

“The project that was going on was scheduled for a May 1 completion, because we had this little hot snap here, it got ahead of us before we could get any cooling turned on. We’re doing everything we can to deal with the problem, we’ll have it under control as soon as possible,” Hudson said.

The RHA executive board will meet over the summer to begin planning for next school year. Next week, an awards banquet will be held in place of the regular meeting.
