CUPB reviews budget

The Council on University Planning and Budget will be discussing the 2004 fiscal year budget, as well as hearing reports from various subcommittees on Friday.

CUPB Chair Hank Davis, associate professor of accounting and finance, said he did not know of any new agenda for the council to be acting upon, and the council has no old business needing to be acted upon.

However, Davis said the council would be hearing several reports from various subcommittees on areas such as academic affairs and business affairs.

The CUPB will also be looking at the 2004 fiscal year budget, which is expected to see many cuts in uncertain university areas because of the slumping state economy, in order to make any comments or suggestions to the President’s Council.

Davis said the CUPB does not vote to approve the budget. It can only vote on a list of suggestions arriving through the council’s discussion during the meeting.

The council meets at 3 p.m. Friday in the Arcola/Tuscola Room of the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union.
