Accounting to receive $75,000

A donation to the “2000 and Beyond Capital Campaign” for the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences will help fund a group of alumni and non-alumni who help advise Eastern’s accounting program and will help the general accounting program.

The Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences will hold a luncheon Friday to accept a donation from KPMG L.L.P., the fourth-largest accounting firm in the world and workplace of several eastern alumni.

Paul Snyder, a KPMG L.P.P. partner and 1970 Eastern accounting graduate, will present a check to the accountancy program for $75,000.

1986 accounting graduate Jeff Bierman and 1989 accounting graduate David Hering, also KPMG L.L.P. partners, helped lead the funding project and will also attend.

The money is in support of the “2000 and Beyond Capital Campaign,” which provides financial assistance necessary to fund the accounting program at Eastern.

Bierman and Hering are members of the accounting advisory board which advises the accounting program.

Vicki Woodard, Eastern’s director of media relations, said the luncheon is a way to publicly thank KPMG L.L.P. for their assistance and donation.

The luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday in 7th Street Underground.
