Keyboardist plays 7th Underground

Vocalist and keyboard player Sarah Lentz continued her Midwest tour stopping Tuesday to share her rhythms with Eastern’s campus.

Lentz’s two-month tour most recently brought her to 7th Street Underground in the Martin Luther King Jr. University Union. Other Illinois stops have included Elmhurst College and MacMurray College.

Lentz was invited to perform at Eastern by Monique Cook-Bey, assistant director of Student Life. Cook-Bey heard Lentz perform and liked what she heard. She thought Eastern students would enjoy hearing Lentz as well.

Lentz is coming out with her second CD in May, which has 11 songs. She is from Pittsburgh, but currently lives in New York.

Lentz performs in New York with her band, however, her band did not come on the tour.

The songs she sang ranged from love songs such as “Just One” to songs about what is going on in the world such as “The World.” Lentz dedicated a song called “Too Late” to the people who died in New York on Sept. 11.

Her goal is to make a living as a performer.

“I want to be able to keep singing,” Lentz said.

She explained that the size of her audience does not matter as long as one person is into it.

Freshman marketing and finance major, Ryan Ford, came to the performance for a relaxing evening.

“The performance was excellent and very relaxing,” Ford commented.
