Second Lumpkin dean candidate interviewing today

The search for the new dean of the Lumpkin College of Business and Applied Sciences continues Wednesday, with the second of four candidates visiting campus.

Diane B. Hoadley, currently the acting dean in the University of South Dakota’s School of Business will meet with members of various campus groups throughout the day.

Hoadley has spent her entire academic career at USD, beginning as an instructor in 1983. She worked her way up to associate professor, became chair of the contemporary media and journalism department and finally to her current position.

Hoadley holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, an MBA in finance and a doctorate in commercial law from the University of Illinois – Champaign/Urbana.

She has had several articles published, including “Gender Differences in Ethical Perceptions of Accounting Students” in the Ethics and Critical Thinking Journal in 1995.

Elizabeth Hitch, dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies, chairs the search committee for the position, which is currently being filled in the by Martha Brown, an associate professor.

Blair Lord, vice president for academic affairs, will meet with Hoadley at 9 a.m Wednesday after the candidate meets with the search committee. As with the first candidate, those meetings will be followed by a campus tour and lunch with the dean’s Student Advisory Board.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, in Lumpkin Hall Room 1031 the entire campus has an opportunity to meet with Hoadley during an open session.

Thursday Hoadley will have breakfast with search committee members, meet with interim President Lou Hencken, and have a meeting with the Council of Deans. Finally, Hoadley will have an exit interview with the search committee.
