Cruise to Bahamas at stake

A night of fun can be had by all at game show trivia night set to kick off Wednesday at 8 p.m.

The event, brought back for the second year by the University Board is titled “Outcast: A College Survival Game”

All students are invited to compete for the grand prize-a cruise for two to the Bahamas.

“Outcast” is an audience interactive game show based on the popular “Survivor” television series.

“It is a college Survivor game; you don’t want to be voted off,” Jessica Bishop, the UB special events coordinator, said.

She said contestants will be picked out of the audience and formed into teams that will answer questions and complete physical challenges.

Throughout the show, audience members vote people off. The last two students left will go head-to-head for the Bahamas cruise.

This is not the first time “Outcast” has visited Eastern’s campus. Bishop said that around 100 people attended the event last year, and because of that success “Outcast” was booked again for this year.

“Everybody last year really enjoyed it,” Bishop said. “It was a lot of fun.”

Stephanie Skrzypek, chair of the UB, said “Outcast” is full of crazy stunts.

“Last year, (the participants) had people do things like lay on their backs with their legs and head up to see who could hold it the longest,” she said.

“The guys were like crying because they had to hold that position forever,” Skrzypek, who coordinated “Outcast” last year, said.

Skrzypek also said that due to limited space, other physical challenges included things like eating gross food.

“The audience really got into the game, since they had a say in voting people off,” she said.

Skrzypek recommends coming to “Outcast” in a big group, so that if one person gets picked, his or her friends can help keep them in the game by not voting them off. “The atmosphere was really upbeat; people were showing up in Hawaiian shirts and just having a good time,” she said.
