Graduation program to be examined

The Faculty Senate will resume discussion on the topics of recruitment and retention and hear more from the provost on Eastern’s proposed four-year guaranteed graduation at today’s meeting.

Faculty Senate Chair Bud Fischer said senate member John Best, a psychology professor, would update the senate today on the outcome of the Fall Forum held last month.

The senate will discuss how faculty member can participate in recruitment and retention and may send forth some recommendations to the CAA and Enrollment Management Committee, Fischer said.

Blair Lord, vice president for academic affairs and provost, will speak to the senate on the EIU-4 program, which would allow the university to guarantee students in some majors that they can graduate within four years by following a list of stipulations.

Last week, the CAA endorsed EIU-4, which is similar to a program that already exists at Western Illinois University.

The senate also will be able to view the most recent copy of the Presidential Search Advisory Committee’s position description and advertisement, Fischer said.
