Thunder the pony trotted longer than usual on Sunday afternoon at the Coles County Fairgrounds. Rebecca Mudd, of Charleston, said he was not listening to the 5-year-old girl who rides him and that could be dangerous. Mudd’s goal was to get Thunder to stop immediately on command, not five steps later, she said.
