CAA looks at logos

Student support services logos came one step closer to making their way onto course syllabuses Thursday when the Council on Academic affairs lent its support to the proposal.

Mark May, assistant director of academic advising and learning assistance, and David Onestack, counseling center director, spoke in favor of the logos.

“What we’re trying to do is get a little better outreach,” May said. “This struck us as an innovative way to do that.”

The four separate logos represent disability services, career services, the learning assistance center and the counseling center.

“It’s being done at other universities and apparently both the faculty and support services were pleased with the results,” Onestack said.

In other business, the CAA proceeded with placing revisions to five business courses on executive action. CAA Chair Andrew Methven, biological sciences professor, said the revisions will make minor changes to some of the course’s catalog descriptions, designate some of the courses as writing intensive and add a prerequisite to business internships.
