Old textbooks go on sale today

Textbook Rental Service is ready to sell all of its outdated books at extremely reduced prices.

Textbook Rental has a book sale once per semester to clear out all outdated textbooks, said Susan Allen, Textbook Rental staff clerk.

This semester’s sale will start today and run till Friday. Each day the sale will take place at Textbook Rental in the North Quad from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The books available for purchase are those that have most recently been replaced with more up-to-date editions, Allen said. Most of the books are in great condition, but all are at least in fair condition.

She said the biggest advantage for students is the bargain prices. Most books are available for between 25 cents and $5 and Allen said some of those books are typically sold for over $100.

Allen also said the sale offers a good opportunity for students to “make their own library.”

As part of the textbook rental system, Allen said students always have the option of purchasing their own textbooks. However, the books sold this week are sometimes the same types of books that are rented, except they are not the newer editions.

Allen said that the sale has been very successful in the past and that the books for sale can make great resources for students to use in future classes or in the work place.

Aliya Khan, a sophomore undecided major, agrees. She plans on attending the sale so she can increase her personal library.

“I may need them (books) as resources for future classes, projects and in life after college,” Khan said.
