Bizarre Bazaar to be held this weekend as part of Celebration

The Library Quad will transform itself into an arena for garage sale and flea market action this weekend, allowing students to make some much-needed money or find a few good bargains.

The Bizarre Bazaar will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. Friday in the Library Quad in conjuction with Celebration: A Festival of the Arts, an annual spring event on campus.

The event is a way for students to get rid of items they no longer want and to make money off them, said Dan Crews, director of publicity. Other students may not have items to sell, but they might be interested in purchasing something new, he said.

“It’s a way to get kids to come out to be part of the festival,” Crews said.

No registration process is neccessary for students to sell their old belongings, Crews said. Those interested just have to set up a blanket on the quad any time during the designated time, he said.

Items that can be sold include CDs, videos, art and crafts, a press release said. No food or beverages can be sold.

While students are making deals, buying and selling, they also can listen to the music that is part of Celebration, Crews said.

Some of the music that will play includes performances by the EIU Jazz Lab Band, the Last Resorts, 4 Banger and Duke Tumatoe and the Power Trio, a press release said.

Admission to the festival is free.
