RHA swears in executive board at Andrews Hall

The Residence Hall Association Thursday swore in next year’s executive board in Andrews Hall at the last official RHA meeting of the semester.

Four of the five new executive members took the oath of office at the meeting – Amy Grammer as RHA president, Mariah Martin-Dooling as vice president, Crystal Pipher as secretary and Nachel Glynn as vice president of finance.

Taylor Colins, the new National Communications Coordinator/Illinois Communications Coordinator, was absent from the meeting.

In other business, RHA members voted to have Campus Perk once a week rather than the current schedule of twice a week.

Campus Perk, which offers free coffee and snacks to students Mondays and Thursdays in the basement of Thomas Hall, received the cut in hours because of budget considerations.

RHA members also passed a resolution “upholding the rights of residents” in residence halls.

The resolution was passed amid a recent controversy concerning a Taylor Hall resident assistant who videotaped his floor’s bathroom in order to catch a person ripping down a bathroom sign. However, neither the resident assistant nor the incident were mentioned in the resolution.

After the meeting, RHA members bid on movies, games and other items for their hall’s front desk with “RHA bucks” given out during the semester for attendance and other reasons.
