5 new faces given Faculty Senate seats

The winners of the faculty elections were announced at Tuesday’s faculty senate meeting.

Senate Vice Chair Bud Fischer, biological sciences professor, said there were 253 votes cast in the two days elections were held last week.

Five new members were elected out of seven candidates for positions on the Faculty Senate:

David Carwell, assistant professor of political science

Barbara Lawrence, assistant professor of chemistry

Luis Clay Mendez, instructor in the foreign language department

Matthew Monippallil, accountancy and finance professor

Steve Scher, associate professor of psychology

Three new members were elected out of nine candidates for positions on the Council on Academic Affairs:

Doug Bock, speech communication professor

Larry Helsel, speech communication professor

Annette Samuels, journalism professor

Four faculty members were elected to the Council on University of Planning and Budget:

Christine McCormick, English professor

Joe Heumann, speech communication professor

Wafeek Wahby, associate professor in the School of Technology

Pat Fewell, secondary education and foundation professor

Ruth Hoberman, English professor, and Cheryl Noll, professor in business education and administrative information, were elected to the Council of Graduate Studies.

Gail Lockart, associate professor for early childhood, elementary and middle level education, Patricia Poulter, associate professor in music, and Robin Murray, assistant professor in English, were elected to the Council on Teacher Education.

Peggy Holmes Leyman was elected to the Admissions Appeal Review Committee.

Steve Laribee, accounting and finance professor, was elected to the Enrollment Management Advisory Committee.

Doug DiBianco, professor of music, Ed Marlow, managing and marketing professor, and Jeanne Snyder, assistant professor family and consumer sciences, were elected to the Academic Program Elimination Committee.

Ron Sutliff, professor of technology, Karen Eisenhour, associate professor of theater arts, John Best, psychology professor, and Scott AGM Crawford, physical education professor, were elected to the Sanctions and Termination Hearing Committee.

Bill Kirk, psychology professor, James Jordan Wagner, Carl Lorber, professor of Booth library general operation, and Joy Kammerling, associate professor for history, were elected to the University Personal Committee.
