RSOs to be honored at banquet

Recognized Student Organizations will get the recognition they deserve tonight at a banquet held in their honor.

The RSO banquet, organized by Art Davis, student vice president for student affairs, will be held in the Grand Ballroom at 7 p.m. An awards ceremony will follow a buffet dinner including fried chicken, lasagna, and garlic bread.

The event is open only to five members of each RSO.

Davis said the banquet allows RSOs to be applauded and recognized for the work they have done over the past year.

“RSOs may feel that the work they do throughout the year isn’t appreciated,” he said.

Several awards will be given to RSOs, such as Outstanding New Organization.

Individual RSO members will also be honored with awards such as the Lou Hencken Leadership Award and the Dr. Surles Presidential Leadership Award.

Several members of Student Government, including Student Body President Katie Cox, will attend the banquet, as well as administrators such as Ceci Brinker, director of student life, and Tracy Robinson, graduate adviser of the Student Life Office.

Hencken, the vice president for student affairs, and University President Surles have also been invited to attend, Davis said.
